IMPACT! Thursday November 6th.

Hello again!
In light of Tuesday’s presidential election Dustin discussed Romans 13. Tonight was all about submission to authorities. The word submission alone made us writhe in our seats a little bit, and rebellion naturally flows through our veins. But the Bible is clear that all authority was set in place by his hand, and he willed it so. So whether we are pleased with who God has placed in power or not, the truth remains that God wanted this. And we are to submit, to yield, to cease our fighting against these authorities. We are to show respect and honor to who God has placed in power, regardless of our preference. However, we are to obey God rather than men. We saw examples of “holy rebels.” The Hebrew women rejected Pharoah’s command to kill their children, and Shadrach, Mischach, and Abednego refused to bow before the idol of the king, and the apostles rebelled against the law to be silent about Jesus Christ. They rebelled against murder and idolatry. We must wisely choose what we fight for. Do fight for God’s truth, and do fight for the things that carry over into eternity. Our purpose here is not to morph our world into something more moral, or to overturn laws, etc. Our purpose is to advance the kingdom of heaven. And all our hopes remain solely in Jesus Christ. A president will never be our deliverer. Come what may, for our God is in heaven, and He does what He pleases. May we walk in the light with love, and submission to God’s will, by being to subject to who He has raised to power.
Peace and Grace to you all!
